  • I just wanted to report that we received a demo unit of the Tello Drone, I’ve taken it for a spin around the office, and it is surprisingly good! While it runs its own user interface, it is very similar to the DJI Go App, but simplified. Flight stability indoors is quite good, and the “flight modes” (flip, take off from hand, auto take off and landing etc) all work well and as advertised. It is a competent little drone and it inspires confidence in use. The camera isn’t bad for what it is, and its more than enough to take a selfie or “dronie”. For a retail price point of $99, its rather good, and much better than the other “toy drones” on the market. This really feels like a higher grade drone dumbed down than the typical toy products we see around this price point. It also offers an excellent STEM/EDU product. Its low cost, flies well, and its simple user interface is intuitive and easy to pick up. Let me know if I can be of any help, we are expecting our shipment mid March! • Leaked image purportedly showing the Mavic Air. Image: DroneDJ So the folks over at DroneDJ Drone news site have published leaked photos and specs that the publication claims show the as-yet-unseen Mavic Air. Cloud City will have all the information as well as accepting preorders tomorrow. The specs seem pretty interesting. A 32-megapixel camera with panorama mode 1/2.3 CMOS sensor and new ISP (Image Signal Processor) 4K video spec @ 60fps 3-way gimbal (upgrade from 2-way on Spark) Four foldable legs like the current Mavic Pro Obstacle-avoidance sensors in the front, bottom, and back Equipped with a VPS – Visual Positioning System for better control, hovering and indoor flying Gesture control 21-minute flight time It will be available in different matte colors: white, black and red we’ve seen so far Compatible with DJI Goggles Pricing has not been discussed yet, but some are suggesting a $699 price point that would position this between the Mavic Pro and the Spark. Availability should be announced on January 23rd. We would be interested to get your thoughts on this.
