Cloud City Drones Press Info
Rhode Island's first and only drone shop is opening its doors just a mile from Theodore Francis Green Airport. Cloud City Drones will sell unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) or drones from consumer manufacturers DJI, 3D Robotics, and more. The store will also offer service, repairs and training to amateur drone pilots.
Founder and owner Christopher Williams, who also owns and operates Warwick's Apple Authorized Reseller TRICOM, believes the consumer drone market is about to take off. "With the cost of advanced and easy-to-fly drones dropping under $800, we think this is the year to jump in."
The Consumer Electronics Association estimates that consumers will spend over $100 million on drones in 2015, and Williams hopes to stake his claim as the first brick-and-mortar retailer in Rhode Island.
As for the store's proximity to Rhode Island's main airport, Williams is confident the two can coexist. "We'll be flying indoors for now, with outdoor test drives an safe distance from T.F. Green. Safety is absolutely our biggest concern."
Cloud City Drones has already make a mark in the area, filming aerial footage of WEEI's 18 Holes for a Cause last week and offering free event photography for locals.
Cloud City Drones is located at 2465 West Shore Road in Warwick and is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays.
